Dr. Saud A. Gutub holds a B.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering from King Fahd University for Petroleum and Minerals, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, (1978), and an M.Sc. degree in Water Resources from California State University, Long Beach, California, USA (1981), and a Ph.D. in Groundwater from Colorado State University, Colorado, USA (1988).  He has been on the faculty of the Department of Civil Engineering at King Abdulaziz University since 1979.

Dr. Gutub has research interests in the design and analysis of water distribution systems, estimation of water leakage in water distribution systems, groundwater flow modeling, storm drainage design and analysis, groundwater dewatering, and underground dams.

Dr. Gutub works as a consultant to several private and governmental agencies. Dr. Gutub has supervised the study and execution of lowering the groundwater table at the Medical Center at KAU.  He has also supervised and participated in the preparation of the Jeddah Master Plan for storm water drainage with Saud Consult (2001-2003). He has also participated in the hydrogeological study of Wadi Namaan as part of the Renovation of Ein Zubidah Project (2002). He is presently working as a consultant to the deputy mayor of the municipality for projects and constructions in Jeddah City (2005-now).

Dr. Gutub has held several administrative and academic positions at King Abdulaziz University. He is now the Dean of Faculty of Engineering, Rabigh Branch (2009- until now) .  He has worked as Vice Dean of Student Affairs for Alumni (2005-2007), prior to which he was the Vice Dean of Student Affairs for Housing and Nutrition (2003-2005).  Also, He worked as the Deputy Director for Water Research Center at KAU (2008-2009).

Dr. Gutub has participated in more than 1 0 studies and researches in water-related areas for governmental and private sectors and published over 20 papers in local and international journals and conferences.
